It's Tolstoy season at the BBC
'The Trouble with Tolstoy' on iPlayer
It's been interesting to follow all the Tolstoy centenary hoopla in this country - the Helen Mirren feature film, the radio programmes, Sophia's best-selling diaries, and now this. I'm not sure what to make of it (the hype, not the documentary). A lot of it is very well informed, but the focus is inevitably on the sensational life, not the work.
